Visit Fort Charlotte
Whoever said history wasn’t enjoyable, clearly, has never visited Fort Charlotte. The Fort was built by the English in 1806 as a means of defense against the Caribs and is 600 ft above the sea giving a stunning view across the capital Kingstown and down the Grenadines. There are interesting paintings, by Linsay Prescott, in what used to be officers’ quarters, depicting the life of the Black Caribs. A trip to the Fort is a walk through history. Facilities include an information booth, parking, washrooms, signal station, and lighthouse.
