Days 1-3: Arrival & Georgetown Exploration with Kaieteur Falls Your adventure begins with an airport transfer to the historic Cara Lodge in Georgetown. You'll spend the first two days delving into the vibrant capital with a culinary tour of Bourda Market led by a local chef, followed by a guided city exploration visiting museums, botanical gardens, and enjoying river cruises. Day 3 features an unforgettable excursion to Kaieteur Falls, the world's highest single-drop waterfall, including a scenic flight, rainforest hikes, and birdwatching in Kaieteur National Park. Days 4-5: Rainforest Canopy & Iwokrama Reserve You'll then fly into Guyana's interior, transferring to Atta Rainforest Lodge, home to the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. Here, you'll explore the rainforest from an elevated perspective, engaging in intense birdwatching (including elusive species like the Crimson Fruitcrow) and spotting wildlife such as monkeys and jaguars. Night walks offer a chance to discover nocturnal creatures. Days 6-10: Rupununi Rivers, Wildlife & Conservation at Rewa, Karanambu & Caiman House The journey continues into the vast Rupununi region. You'll travel by boat and vehicle, arriving at Rewa Eco-lodge, where you'll engage with the Macushi community, hike Awarmie Mountain for panoramic views and unique wildlife like the Goliath bird-eating spider, and enjoy river activities. Next, you'll move to Karanambu Lodge, a famous wildlife sanctuary renowned for Giant Anteater safaris and sightings of Giant River Otters and Black Caiman on nighttime river explorations. The tour then takes you to Caiman House Field Station in Yupukari Village, where you'll participate in vital conservation efforts, including a turtle conservation program and a unique night expedition to observe and study Black Caimans with the field team. Days 11-13: South Rupununi Conservation & Ranch Life at Wichabai The exploration extends to the South Rupununi, transferring to Wichabai Ranch. Here, you'll gain deep insights into local conservation, meeting with the South Rupununi Conservation Society (SRCS). You'll participate in Giant Anteater research expeditions, explore bush islands for wildlife monitoring, learn about capybara ranching, and engage in Red Siskin and Yellow-spotted River Turtle conservation efforts at Sand Creek village. Days 14-15: Return to Georgetown & Departure Your final morning in the Rupununi involves a savannah-forest transect with an SRCS ranger before flying back to Georgetown. The tour concludes with a special farewell dinner featuring Guyanese cuisine. On Day 15, you'll have the option for an early morning birdwatching adventure on the Mahaica River to spot species like the iconic Hoatzin before your departure.
